I just said a sad goodbye to one of my chewing tooth. When the dentist said he had to pull it out I didn't think it was a big deal. I was wrong. it has triggered some issues like having to wear false teeth in the future and the sign of aging is inevitable.
If I had a chance, I'd take care of my teeth like they're diamond heirlooms. You see, I come from a family of good looking teeth. I had received complements that my teeth were well aligned and shiny. I could say, my other siblings are still proud of their teeth until now.
So much for the sentimentality.
Good Oral Hygeine Habit
Rinse your mouth with mouthwash as soon as you get up. According to a research in Japan there are more germs in your mouth in the morning than there are in a toilet bowl. So, the next time you kiss someone in the morning think twice.
Brush your teeth right after every meal. I used to think that brushing was only important twice a day, in the morning and at night. I was wrong. My parents were right, it's after every meal. I think we already know this from our parents but we tend to rebel every good things they taught us. No? (laugh). The reason here is the residue left stuck on the teeth, called plaque, especially between teeth which are difficult to remove even with toothbrush, will turn into acid and destroy the teeth. How? Avoid snacks. This is the latest info that surprised me. Especially those who are on a diet, they're advised to eat less during meals and supplement it with light snacks when one is hungry. But this, in fact, can cause tooth decay. In a study conducted here, those who eat only 3 meals a day are less prone to tooth decay than those who eat in between. This is credible because no one brushes his/her teeth after snacks right?
Chew gum after meals and snacks. Not only will they help you keep a fresh breath, the gum helps the mouth release saliva and the saliva helps protect the teeth from the acid that causes tooth decay.
Don't brush your teeth like it's an unused bath bathtub. Brush gently with rotary stroke and take your time. It's hard to explain here. Watch the video below or ask your doctor for the proper way to brush your teeth. By the way, brush the gum, too.
Use floss or the like. Sorry, I don7t know how those things called. They look like tiny needles with bristles that you insert in between teeth to help remove plaque.
Eat Calcium-rich foods. Milk, yogurt, etc.
Find a good dentist and visit regularly (2-3 times a year).
Why maintain a good teeth?
Good set of teeth can help you maintain a good weight. How? If you chew your food properly (30 or so times) before swallowing it, youl absorb more nutrition and also avoid overeating. Bad teeth can also be a cause of other discomforts like headache, locked jaw, etc. Most of all, you can eat steak and enjoy it better with good set of teeth (laugh).
Super White teeth are not necessarily healthy teeth.Surprised? Yes, it's true. In fact, it is the super white teeth that is loosing the coating. Actually, the decay start from the inside, not the outside. In other words, you won't know if your tooth is starting to decay by just looking at it. The acid doesn't attack the outside layer. It seeps into the teeth, slowly destroys the inside until the teeth becomes brittle and break.
